My spirit soars high and feelings of Joy fill me when I look at this lovely image of these surfing Dolphins. This photo has been the inspiration for this weeks meditation and breathing practice. Thanks Jim King from Yallingup for sharing this beautiful photo. Last week we used affirmations to deepen our Yoga practice, when we introduce techniques such as affirmations, mantras, Mudras (hand gestures), Bandhas (energy locks) and visualizations our Yoga practice moves beyond the physical practice of Yoga postures. By integrating other elements into our practice we consciously bring our mind into our bodies and have a deeper connection with self, breath and the Prana (vital energy Flow). This week we have been using imagery with our pranayama practice, I introduced a Japanese breathing practice IRUKA NO KOKYU - Dolphin Breathing - Dolphin breathing makes you feel so joyful, calm and alive, it encourages deep breathing and connection with our heart centre. Dolphins represent vitality, playfulness and embracing life with joy. Directions for Dolphin Breathing
Enjoy this wonderful practice Miles of Smiles Naomi

THANKS I AM OVERJOYED !!!!!!!! Whale shark season is in full swing here in Exmouth, and the arrival of these graceful, gentle giants to our shores means an influx of tourists and busy times ahead for all of us. With the hustle and bustle of the tourist season we often find it difficult to find time for ourselves and just slow down. Whale sharks are a great reminder to for us slow down. They swim gracefully and serenely through the ocean, never rushing, flowing with the rhythm of sea as they peacefully glide past the onlookers who have come from near and far to swim with them. When I swim with the whale sharks, time seems to stop and I am overwhelmed with calmness and peace, instantly my mind is transported to being in the moment, nowhere else to be, but in the pristine sea, Whale shark and me. Take time to slow down this week, get out in nature, walk by the sea, watch the birds fly by, see a sunrise and a sunset, sit in bed for a while before rising and listen to the morning birdsong, in the evening turn off the TV and meditate instead. Enjoy this poem " SLOW DOWN" Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round, or listened to rain slapping the ground? Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight, or gazed at the sun fading into the night? You better slow down, don’t dance so fast, time is short, the music won’t last. Do you run through each day on the fly, When you ask “How are you?”, do you hear the reply? When the day is done, do you lie in your bed, with the next hundred chores running through your head? You better slow down, don’t dance so fast, time is short, the music won’t last. Ever told your child, we’ll do it tomorrow, and in your haste not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch, let a good friendship die, ’cause you never had time to call and say “hi”? You better slow down, don’t dance so fast, time is short, the music won’t last. When you run so fast to get somewhere, you miss half the fun of getting there. When you worry and hurry through your day, it’s like an unopened gift thrown away. Life is not a race, so take it slower, hear the music before the song is over. You Better Slow Down … Author: Unknown Miles of Smiles Naomi |
